Moviegoers across the U.S. are reporting multiple incidents of Minecraft-obsessed teenagers destroying theater auditoriums. The mess is overwhelming cleaning staff.
Theaters in the U.S. are reporting chaos and disorder during screenings of “A Minecraft Movie.” Videos show teenage fans of the franchise throwing popcorn bags and water bottles. One even brought a chicken into the theater.
A theater in Washington Township, New Jersey, reported that minors are now banned from watching the movie without an adult present after a group vandalized an auditorium.
“We also received multiple complaints from other guests who were trying to enjoy the movie with their families. We have footage of the incident,” the Township Theatre wrote in a Facebook post.
The chaos happens during a scene in which Jack Black’s character yells “Chicken Jockey,” and a baby zombie appears riding a chicken like a horse. Minecraft fans go wild and throw food and objects in the air.
One video captured the moment a troublemaker brought a live chicken into the screening. After the commotion, the lights were turned on and the movie was stopped.
Staff at the AMC Theatre at Newport Mall, also in New Jersey, warned that any inappropriate behavior will result in immediate ejection from the theater.
“A Minecraft Movie” has already become one of the biggest video game adaptations in history, grossing $313.4 million since its release on April 4.
